PRISM membrane separators contain thousands of asymmetric hollow fibers that act as a molecular filter. When high-pressure gas mixtures enter the separator, the gas components divide as a result of selective permeation. Fast gases (such as oxygen) permeate easily through the membrane wall and exit the side port. Slow gases (such as nitrogen) have a difficult time passing through the membrane wall and travel the bore of the fiber exiting through the port at the end of the shell.

PRISM Membrane separators generate gas onsite in aerospace, biogas, oil and gas, food and beverage, marine, and many others. Primary applications include nitrogen generation, air dehydration, hydrogen recovery, biogas upgrading, and the generation of oxygen enriched air.

Fully-assembled membrane systems are available through the Air Products Engineered Systems group. Each nitrogen system is fabricated to highest engineering classifications, which are required to place equipment into the most demanding work sites. These are the same nitrogen-membrane systems that Air Products uses in its own facilities, so you can be sure that the quality and performance meets the highest standards.
